C2C promotional description: Next is a stunning remastering of a classic. To date, release of this never had the quality to bring out the true greatness of the show. The 1970 tour has yearned long and hard for a trully acceptable representation of itself. All the magic of this Mick Taylor era has been marginally documented. Clearly, there are 'completists only' recordings from this era but Coast2Coast feels the following will finally give some justification to the awesome sound the Stones presented during that short tour. Quite simply, we feel this title will give a truer feel for what the Stones provided their fans back then. The versions here of Little Queenie and Brown Sugar are sure to put a smile on your face! So sweet.

This appeared out of nowhere in October 2002 - a nearly flawless copy of the long-lost L&G soundtrack. The other 1972 recordings are instantly in a distant second place. This is a killer, a wonderful present for fans of the 1972 tour.

C2C promotional: Coast2Coast (C2C) is very excited about their COMPLETELY PROFESSIONALLY REMASTERED release of the now popular Ft. Worth June 24th, 1972 2ND Show. C2C is challenging the quality of their new release to ANY other release of this show. ANY! This CD-R is a COMPLETE and UNCUT version of the actual cassette recorded MASTER. Unlike all the others, this release is the actual DAT clone from this MASTER. It was then taken to a professional studio where the incredible remaster was produced.
bruceb: This was all true until the Ladies & Gentlemen soundtrack was discovered. This is a nice release, but it can't compare.

Interesting collection including many hard-to-find tracks. Each track is preserved in the best quality available for that song, but that means the quality changes from track to track, which is a bit unnerving.

Chris Ritchey's notes: "I have collected the best known sources for the Philadelphia Special tracks, cleaned and mastered them the best I could and put them all together on a 2 disc set. I used the original RSGL72 LP of PHILADELPHIA SPECIAL*, the Swingin' Pig PHILADELPHIA SPECIAL II (TSP-060)**, and the Vinyl Gang WINGLESS ANGELS (VGP 153)*** as primary sources. Also used were Swingin' Pig PHILADELPHIA SPECIAL (TSP-050) + and VERY ANCIENT, THANK YOU KINDLY ++. All vinyl tracks have pops/clicks/hiss removed. The cleanest you've ever heard these tracks! I will include cover artwork for this "PHILADELPHIA SPECTACULAR". I spent hours and hours on these tracks, as well as went through many iterations on CDR."
bruceb: These are a treasure, for a long time the best sounding '72 recordings on my shelf. The Ladies & Gentlemen soundtrack beats these on sound quality by quite a distance, but these are still very compelling recordings of different shows than L&G.

FINGERPRINT FILE  The source tape is slightly hissy and muffled, yet Taylor and Richards guitars come through well. The band was "on" this night as Jagger lays into his vocals. The sound quality is comparable to any of the Knebworth '76 releases.
BRUCEB: Sounds pretty cruddy to me, especially compared to the crystal clear Philadelphia Spectacular discs from Chris Ritchey.

This has a raw sound to it that is irresistible. It makes  Headin' For An Overload sound laid back.
FINGERPRINT FILE 50 min; A classic. This stereo soundboard tape first turned up in 1987 on a German LP and is now on several boots. Great recording and performance. The Swingin' Pig release is a combination of the 2/24 show with some songs from the 2/26 show; there is no 2/24 2nd show as some boots claim.

There have been many bootlegs from the radio broadcasts and soundboards recorded during the Europe 1973 tour, but none of them were exactly right until this release, which to the best of my knowledge re-creates the original KBFH broadcast. This is the way the Brussels and Wembley material ought to be, distilled to its essence - the best performances from two of the best shows ever by the greatest rock and roll band in the world. It doesn't get any better than this.

I wanted better artwork, so I designed replacement covers: front cover, back cover, label.

FINGERPRINT FILE: This is a very common show on many bootlegs from the time of its first broadcast on the King Biscuit Flower Hour in 1975? until now. It's not surprising it's on so many boots; the recording is extremely good as is the performance. Old 2LP sets such as "Nasty Music" combined this broadcast with 4 songs from the NYC 7/26/72 concert. The broadcast songs were all from Brussels except Happy, Gimme Shelter, Heartbreaker, and Street Fighting Man were from London. Later CDs have confused things further, for example "Brussels Affair" uses a remixed broadcast for the first 3 songs so its Happy and Gimme Shelter are also from Brussels. Got it?

The Brussels and Wembley shows have been mixed up ever since the original King Biscuit broadcasts. Songs were duplicated, new sources emerged, an unbelievable array of bootleg LPs and CDs rearranged them and truncated them and basically it's been impossible to make sense of the available tracks. Chris M. did his usual thorough job of trying to straighten things out, and things are so confused that I can't make heads or tails of his explanation. Click here if you're interested.
This boot attempts to bring together all the songs in a single place. These are extraordinary performances, but personally I prefer the distilled essence of the original KBFH broadcast that boiled this material down to the 14 most intense tracks you'll ever hear - see above, "Europe '73 VGP 5th Edition."

FINGERPRINT FILE: [DH] 90 min; One of the Stones longest concerts, definitely the longest of the '60s and '70s, before a large crowd. The Stones worked up a special expanded set list for this show only. Many audience tape recorders were running as well as the soundboard, plus there's also pro-shot video! The audience tapes are available on several LPs ranging from lousy to fairly good. Frustratingly the soundboard recording is incomplete, and the best version is on a rare German LP which also runs too fast. Neither of the 2 videos is close to complete either. To get the entire 2.5 hour show you must obtain about 3 LPs/CDs, as every one is missing something.
[chrisk@grove.ufl.EDU] The CD of this is probably from the same source as my LP recording. The File gives this 2Cd a 7/8s-Vid/Aud rating which is the same for my LP. It runs fast though but is much clearer and closer a SB recording than the one you are asking about. However, as with Everybody's Got to Go, it is not a complete show. It is missing Stray Cat Blues and much of the in-between chatter of Mick. Dave Heller is listed under the CD version of this title as stating it is a 90 min. CD when the show clocks in at near 2.5 hours.

FINGERPRINT FILE: [RSBoots@aol.com] I was just listening to this one on the way home from work yesterday. It's a pretty good cd, not great. The trax: Worried About You (prev. unreleased), Crackin' Up, Let's Spend The Night Together (clipped ending), Route 66, Hand Of Fate, Around And Around, Crazy Mama (why they put this in i don't know - all you get is the first few bars of the song). The remaining songs are from "rare" acetates and have the perquisite snaps and pops but have a little better clarity than the previous songs from a tape source: Little Red Rooster, Dance Little Sister, Route 66. I'm overall pleased with it, but I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. I like it for the unreleased songs like Route 66, Worried About You, etc.

This CD rests on a pedestal in my living room. Fresh flowers are placed at the base of the pedestal daily. At precisely 6pm each evening, drinks are served on the terrace and after a few moments of polite conversation, I go inside and put on Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others. I immediately begin dancing uncontrollably and breaking into spontaneous applause. There are no pauses, no slow spots. When it's over, I sink exhausted to the floor, tired but happy. I've been doing that continuously since this show was first broadcast in 1978, and I expect to continue for decades to come. I would not want to be forced to choose between this CD and Ya-Ya's as my companion on a desert island. I'd find it a tough choice.

The bootleg release of SGABTO features really, really ugly cover art. I couldn't stand it, so I designed replacement covers: front cover, back cover, label.

It is just remarkable to have this much '78 material in one place. This is a phenomenal collection. I have to admit, though, when I'm in the mood for tunes from the '78 tour, I usually reach for the distilled essence of Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others - truly one of the best live recordings of all time.
[Swingin' Pig] A four CD-Set of 1978 US-Tour live recordings in pristine stereo soundboard quality, each and every track 20 Bit-digitally remastered from the original master tapes - it simply can't get better than this! Sure to become one of the classic Stones live albums of all time... Disc 1 + 2 include the previously unreleased and only recently discovered Fort Worth, Will Rogers Memorial Center, July 18 recordings in their full and uncut length - even all alternate mixes of various songs are added as bonus tracks. A true gem is FAR AWAY EYES with special guest Doug Kershaw on fiddle - but we don't promisse too much in saying that the whole show is a genuine treat. Jagger introduces SHATTERED with the words "If the band's slightly lacking in energy, it's because we spent all last night fucking. We do our best." And they do! One of these evil shows... Disc 3 + 4 include all existing recordings from: Memphis, Mid-South Coliseum, June 28; Lexington, Rupp Arena, June 29; Detroit, Masonic Hall, July 6; Houston, Hofheinz Pavilion, July 19. Many previously unreleased like STARFUCKER, all uncut & uncensored & from the original source tapes. Forget all those edited broadcast, this is the original stuff!

FINGERPRINT FILE: John Belushi and Toronto DJ Lorrimer introduce the band. The performance by the NB is great, esp. Keith and Ron's harmonies. The Stones Set is excellent, with Star Star and Prodigal Son standing out. The mix is an excellent stereo one that really captures the raw spirit of shows in the late seventies. There were 2 shows; this is the second of them.
