PETROL GANG | | | | LINER NOTES This is a collection of unreleased songs mostly recorded during the "Some Girls" sessions at Pathe Marconi studios in Paris October 1977 to March 1978. Tracks 1 & 2 were recorded during rehearsals for the Rolling Stones 1978 US-tour at RCA studios Hollywood in June. The Keith Richards songs "We Had It All" and "Let's Go Steady" are "Emotional Rescue" outtakes, recorded in Paris June 1979 and Nassau February 1979.
Apparently, 1977/78 was a good year for the Rolling Stones songwise. Perhaps fuelled, if not directly influenced by the punk-explosion, the Glimmer Twins came up with loads of songs, most of them unreleased to this day. This is a selection of the best of them.
This is the seventh of eight CDs presenting you with the very best of Rolling Stones-studio-outtakes (unreleased songs, alternate versions, rough mixes and assorted instrumental jams) in chronological order. Ranging from their very first recording in 1962 through the 1989 "Steel-Wheels" - sessions. This series is meant as a 'definite' and authoritative guide on 27 years of studio-left-overs and unheard material from the Stones' archives. Thoughtfully put together from the best possible sources. |
